Professional Couple’s Counsellor in Exeter

Marcus Santer, Couples Counsellor

Hello, my name is Marcus Santer and if you are looking for relationship counselling in or near Exeter, keep reading.

First, can I say?

It takes courage to admit you need help. Many couples will choose to ignore their relationship problems until it is too late to do anything about it.

By looking for professional help, you have already taken the first —and most important— step in saving your relationship.

And I would love to help you take the next step.

Couples Counselling is Safe and Effective

My approach to couples counselling provides a safe and supportive environment for you and your partner to work together.

If you argue and fight a lot?

It’s OK.

All couples fight. It’s normal for two different people —each bearing personal flaws— to experience friction when living together.

You are not alone.

But do you know what the difference is between the couples who get back together again quickly after a fight and those who do not?

It’s communication.

And this is where I come in.

There is Hope

My approach is a proven systems-based couples therapy called Emotionally Focused Therapy (or EFT) which has a tried and tested history in restoring harmony between couples.

Under my careful supervision, we will have honest, open, and confidential communication exploring the problems safely for both partners.

And as sure as one foot goes in front of the other, you will learn how to create a lasting, deep foundation for meaningful positive change in your relationship.

Through better understanding, you will become more aware of the unique negative cycles you and your partner engage in which pull you apart.

With my help you will identify these sources of conflict and replace them with nurturing cycles instead.

Using the EFT approach, I’ve seen couples make it back from death’s door to being in love again.

How Much?

I want to make therapy affordable for every couple so I operate a sliding scale of fees based on the combined annual income of you and your partner.

Here’s how that looks:

Tier Income Bracket Fee
Tier 1 Under £17,639 £40/hr
Tier 2 £17,640-£29,399 £50/hr
Tier 3 £29,400 and above £65/hr

Proof of household income is required to access therapy at Tiers 1 and 2.

If you’re struggling with an issue that isn’t going away, don’t hesitate to get some help from someone who knows what they’re talking about.

Marriage Counselling in Exeter

Marriage Counselling in Exeter

No one wants to admit their marriage has become a source of sadness and pain.

Yet in truth, all marriages change over time. And with this change, the original bond between you may suffer or break completely.

With the help of marriage counselling, friction and disconnect become opportunities for growth. With my help, you can rebuild and enjoy the marriage you deserve.

And listen:

Do you want to know a secret?

I specialise in working with couples.

This is important to know as many counsellors offer both individual and couples counselling and assume working with two is the same as one, with just more people in the room.

However, this is false. There is a vast difference between individual therapy and couples therapy.

With individual counselling, the focus is on personal empowerment. And when you are empowered, you are less inclined to play as part of a team.

Individual therapy can lead to, “I’m number one, and I deserve better” feelings.

This attitude is not conducive for saving marriages!

And so you see, marriage counselling and working with couples requires a different approach entirely.

Make an Appointment

I specialise in rescuing couples from the jaws of separation.

From first hand experience I know there is hope for you, too. And I would love to explore this further with you.

With the right counselling even the most unstable couples can find balance.

And if you are married? Giving it a go is undoubtedly more cost-effective than divorce.

If you want to see how I can help you:

Marriage counselling sessions are available in or near Exeter, and indeed I work privately with couples in various premises and locations.

Emotionally Focused Therapy

I am an Emotionally Focused couples Therapist (EFT), which means I provide a safe, practical and effective relationship counselling system for my clients.

Reliable research has shown couples therapy using the EFT approach can give a 70 to 75% recovery rate in 10 to 12 session. And retests of couples at three months, six months, and two years show stable results and in some cases even improved results.

The goal of EFT is to restore the connection between you and your partner. EFT aims to help you recognise and eventually express your needs for:

  • Love
  • Comfort
  • Support
  • Protection

Both of you need to be able to send clear messages to each other and be better able to hear the perspective of the other. EFT will help you to collaborate, solve problems, and compromise better.

You should know that this is a research-based approach to restoring broken relationships, and it can work for you too.

Did You Know?

Studies show that couples who come for relationship counselling will tolerate their problems for an average of 6 years.

You’re right; six years is six years too long. So if you are in an unhappy relationship, please don’t be like the average couple who wait.

Be like the couples I work with.

I love helping people and leaving them better off than I found them.
