Professional Couple’s Counsellor For Exeter

Marcus Santer, Couples Counsellor

Hello, my name is Marcus Santer, if you’re in Exeter and you’re looking for a professional relationship counsellor, keep reading.

First, can I say?

It takes courage to admit you need help. Many couples will choose to ignore their relationship problems until it is too late to do anything about them.

By looking for professional help, you have already taken the first — and most important— step in saving your relationship.

And I would love to help you take the next step.

Couples Counselling is Safe and Effective

My approach to couples counselling provides a safe and supportive environment for you and your partner to work together.

If you argue and fight a lot?

It’s OK.

All couples fight. It’s normal for two different people —each bearing personal flaws— to experience friction when living together.

You are not alone.

But do you know what the difference is between the couples who get back together again quickly after a fight and those who do not?

It’s effective communication.

And this is where I come in.

There is Hope

The good news is that with the help of Emotionally Focused couples Therapy, Gottman Institute and other evidence-based couples therapies you really can get back to the relationship you deserve and desire. A relationship free from the pain of heartbreak and fear you are stuck in right now.

Under my careful supervision, we will have honest, open, and kind conversations exploring the problems safely (and confidentially) for both partners.

And as sure as one foot goes in front of the other, you will learn how to create a lasting, deep foundation for meaningful positive change in your relationship.

Through better understanding, you will become more aware of the unique negative cycles you and your partner engage in which pull you apart.

With my help, you will identify these sources of conflict and replace them with nurturing cycles instead.

Using an evidence-based approach, I’ve seen couples make it back from death’s door to being in love again.

My experience has convinced me that with the right couples therapy you and your partner can get through this challenge and your relationship can be even stronger and more nurturing than ever before.

Marriage Counselling Exeter

No one wants to admit their marriage has become a source of sadness and pain.

Yet in truth, all marriages change over time. And with this change, the original bond between you may suffer or break completely.

With the help of marriage counselling, friction and disconnect become opportunities for growth. With my help, you can rebuild and enjoy the marriage you deserve.

And listen:

Do you want to know a secret?

I specialise in working with couples.

This is important to know as many counsellors offer both individual and couples counselling and assume working with two is the same as one, with just more people in the room.

However, this is false. There is a vast difference between individual therapy and couples therapy.

With individual counselling, the focus is on personal empowerment. And when you are empowered, you are less inclined to play as part of a team.

Individual therapy can lead to, “I’m number one, and I deserve better” feelings.

This attitude is not conducive for saving marriages!

And so you see, marriage counselling and working with couples requires a different approach entirely.

I only work with couples.

I specialise in rescuing couples from the jaws of separation.

From first-hand experience, I know there is hope for you, too. And I would love to explore this further with you.

With the right counselling, even the most unstable couples can find balance.

And if you are married? Giving it a go is undoubtedly more cost-effective than divorce.

Did You Know?

Studies show that couples who come for relationship counselling will have tolerated their problems for an average of six years.

You’re right; six years is six years too long. So if you are in an unhappy relationship, please don’t be like the average couple who wait.

Be like the couples I work with.

I love helping people and leaving them better off than I found them.

What Next?

If this sounds good to you, you can schedule an appointment by going here next.

My practice is based in Dawlish – about 14 miles away from Exeter by car.

Personally, I don’t think there’s a better place to get the support you need. Many couples have told me a stroll on the beach after therapy can be powerful medicine.

If you have a question, you’ll find it quicker to take a look at the Frequently Asked Questions page as I’ve answered most of the common questions I get asked there.
